KRISTINE LIM : Artist on a Mission
Artist on a Mission, Kristine Lim, is a celebrated, globally renowned, and award winning, Missionary Visual Artist from the Philippines. Perhaps, being able to draw before learning how to write foretold what this Artist on a Mission was born for.
Lim graduated Cum Laude from the University in the Philippines, University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts, with a major in Visual Communications. As a University Scholar for four consecutive years, she passionately explored her chosen path, which has always been her calling. Hence, she grew as a multi-disciplinary artist, with painting, drawing, graphic design, film and digital photography, and digital art as her areas of interest. Over the years, she has come to understand what visual art means for her. Art is a God-given skill to relay and do something beyond what the artist wants to convey and where the message goes past all known words and lexis. There is no right or wrong interpretation. Every exposition count, significantly, if it positively impacts and transforms the viewer's life and disposition.
This Missionary Visual Artist has captured the hearts of many after her successful solo art exhibit called "Almost There," which marked her official return to the art scene after being on hiatus for years. The death of her son and the near-death of his twin brother was the pivoting point of her life to live not for others or herself but for God. It was a wake-up call to go and do what she wanted, and this time, for God, she will no longer hold back. All her exhibits are always sold out, and this paved the way to better opportunities both in and outside the Philippines. Additionally, her exhibits abroad for the next couple of years have already been lined up; this forged Kristine's name deeper in the industry, and made her an internationally recognized artist.
Kristine Lim's works have also been appreciated in different government agencies and offices. Her huge pieces are a permanent part of the lobby of the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Public Works and Highways, and other grovernment agencies. Her works are also officially part of the National Archives of the Philippines and the Presidential Museum and Library, Malacanang Palace. Lim's first official turnover of artworks at Malacañan was attended by Senator Bong Go and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte; where Lim took the opportunity to pray over the two leaders.
Kristine always aims to consistently represent God and her country by bringing with her other Filipino Christian artists to do exhibits and mission works wherever she goes. For her, her accomplishments aren't for her alone but for her fellow Christians and fellow Filipinos as well.
She has been a missionary since High School and has been teaching art workshops to orphans and marginalized sectors of the community. She founded and spearheaded the ARTISTS ON A MISSION PROGRAM. She uses her art to help and support NGOs and other missionaries like herself. Aside from such efforts, the said program has been working closely with community churches / Christian trainings centers who are guiding and helping the Indigenous People in the community. Kristine has started to build ARTISTS ON A MISSION CENTERS in partnership with Christian Training Centers to uphold and sustain the culture and heritage of different tribes in the Philippines. Through these she find ways for the Indigenous People to be recognized through their distinct arts, music, dance, poetry, and other creative aspects of their identity. At the same time the center also provides sustainable ways for them to make a living that will help and profit both their communities and their generations to come.
Succinctly, Lim is an advocate of Edenic Living, Sustainability, and Mental Health. She is currently a volunteer as the Director of Culture & Arts for Sustainable PH, a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability and becomes the forefront of Greenovation in the Philippines. Lim is also one of the founders and the Vice President for External Affairs of Christian + Collective, an initiative she and her fellow Christian artists created to further evangelize the word of God through arts.
Her patriotism and heart for service also pushed her to join the Philippine Navy. She is a very active and dedicated Philippine Navy Ambassador; focusing on Naval Diplomacy thru arts and culture and other Civil Military Operations related efforts. Lim’s most memorable mission was her very first which was in Basilan. She was sent there as a Philippine Navy Ambassador to teach Art for Peace to the children.
Some of Kristine Lim’s awards and recognitions include, Gawad Pilipino HERO OF THE YEAR 2022, TOYM (The Outstanding Young Men) 2022 Finalist, GAWAD AMERIKA Outstanding Missionary Visual Artist Award, ASIA PACIFIC LUMINARE Most Remarkable and Inspiring Missionary Visual Artist Award, DANGAL NG LAHI World Class Visual Artist and Inspiring Missionary Award, MetroStyle Facinating Women 2022, People Asia Women of Style and Substance 2022.
A wife to Jasper and a mom to Justine, John (+), and Judah, Lim stays true to her faith as a Filipino Christian artist and missionary despite and in spite of unpredictable circumstances. As she always says, "An artist is not just someone who creates art. A true artist is someone who can create meaningful pieces that impact and change lives; because it is not self-serving. It is purposeful.”.

A strong woman and artist, Anna Escalona, who started with nothing but a dream, created Aesca in 2017. Today, she lives her dream of expressing her creativity with a vision. She envisions Aesca to be an epitome of her country’s rich history, culture and nature by breathing life and pride with creative individuals whose stories are worthy to be told. The birth of Aesca was the merging of passion for what should be seen and a call for acknowledgement for local artists and hidden talents to be known. Aesca positions itself as a platform for Filipino artists and creative individuals to express themselves widely with visuals that not only echoes but also embeds its existence in the hearts and minds of those it reaches. By incorporating masterpieces on all Aesca creations, the stories that are too rich for words to express will soon be beautifully recognized by the world. Aesca dares to dream, create and be seen.
